Christmas Blues

What is is about this scene here that makes thousands of people around the globs so miserable this time of year?

This in my opinion is close to a perfect scene of what this season is about.  The warmth of a hearty fireplace couldn't possibly be complete without Christmas lights.  And what on earth could possibly be depressing about a jolly fat man descending your chimney to leave you cool stuff, right?  Normally, this is how I usually feel about the Christmas season.  I love everything about Christmas!  The chill of the winter air, wine, sweaters, hot apple cider, wine, reading in front of the fireplace, all the beautiful lights, family, and the wine.  It is all euphoric for me and if it were up to me, it would be Christmastime all the time!

But.....

This year, I don't know what bah-humbug has gotten into me.  I find myself irritated with the traffic and disgusted with Christmas shoppers and lines longer than the Matterhorn.  I find myself reevaluating The Grinch and have decided that he isn't so bad after all.  He is just misunderstood and lonely.  I'm sure I will pull out of it in the next few days once I get the chance to decorate my house until it is officially Santa-ready and Jesus-infused.  Once I have my other half in the same county, I will feel much better and not so lonely.

A Crisp November

This time of year is my favorite time of year to get out my camera and learn how to use it.  I just love our house when the leaves fall and there is a crispness in the foggy air.  I will forever be working on my photography (wannabe) skills, but I believe I still got a few good shots this time around. Enjoy!

Even though Fresno isn't as beautiful as the east coast is this time of year, I think it gets pretty close in my front yard.  Especially when you add the most handsome pup to ever exist. ;-)

To the LAND!

Stephen and I finally made it down to Disneyland for my birthday (which was in May) last weekend and had such a blast! Each trip, we usually try to do something that we have never done before.  This year, we watched the Captain Eo show where Michael Jackson dances his way out of a dilemma, went on the Mark Twain Steamboat, ate in Critter Country, and actually carved out time to watch the parade, fireworks, and Fantasmic!  We also spotted some Hidden Mickeys! Unfortunately, most of our finds were made while we were walking past and couldn't snap a photo, but here are a few highlights from our FUNtasmic trip!

Another first! Stephen had NEVER been on It's a Small World.  And he LIKED it.

Punk Kids

Today outside of my work, I saw some punk kid bend down in the middle of the crosswalk.  I thought he was picking up a quarter he found on the ground.                              
By the way, this is totally me. I can't seem to walk past money on the street.

Anyway, I was wrong.  That little Chuck Bass-tard was placing a 2-inch nail on the street sticking straight up.

 

He was being mischievous and was trying to pop a tire.  I picked it up and almost yelled at him to not be such a low-life scum. 

I didn't say anything because I didn't want him to know where I work and try to rob me or pop my tire.  Even if he did slash my tire, joke would be on him because I have an amazing warranty on my newly-purchased Goodrich's.  

I just want to know what is wrong with kids these days? No respect, no consideration, always wanting free stuff (whoops, me again), always whining, yelling, cursing, getting pregnant, selling drugs, fighting, and being just plain rude.  Can we please go back to when kids had manners?

Whale or Mermaid?

I really love this story:

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?!

Fall is a Blazer

I have recently been really into wearing blazers. It's my new thing. I think because I don't have to have an entire new outfit to look chic....just a sweet blazer to top it off!  Here are my favorite fall blazer picks!
